One of the very first things you notice when you look up Jen Rogers or The J.R Way on Facebook besides the stunning profile picture is the quote, "SHE'S GOT THAT WHOLE PURPOSE DRIVEN WARRIOR PRINCESS SAVE THE WORLD TYPE OF VIBE" as her cover photo and I don't think there is a more perfect description for this girl.
I heard about Jen long before I ever met her. You see, my seven year old nephew had quite the little crush on her many years. He is a special needs kid and is part of some amazing charities and organizations, through one of these groups he met Jen. Jen has been such a light in his life. From playdates to hospital visits she is a great friend to him and is a shoulder to lean on for his parents.
When I was starting BARRI and thinking about its values and what I really wanted this brand to stand for, I kept thinking about Jen and all that she embodies. She is REAL, she is KIND, she is the CHANGE she wants to see in this world and she INSPIRES me.
And I know she will inspire you too. Please enjoy her story below.
My name is Jen Rogers (aka) J.R. I am the Founder and President of The J.R. Way, a nonprofit based out of Murray, Utah.
The J.R.Way has been a life long journey. The J.R.Way is a phrase that started when friends of mine would do good deeds around the community, and they would comment, “It’s The J.R. Way!”. As that phrase spread, we decided to take it to the next level and here we are today; a nonprofit giving back and spreading good vibes anywhere and everywhere we can.
As an active philanthropist in my community and surrounding communities, I have been involved with many nonprofits, charities and foundations. I wanted a way to give back without having to limit myself to one cause. I wanted to be able to spread good vibes, inspire others, and lend a helping hand to those in need and to those that want to make a difference.
I wanted a way to open eyes and hearts to issues that need our attention while simultaneously serve as someone who can inform others and share my knowledge on methods to give back and help them make their ideas come to life.
The J.R. Way and our amazing volunteers have given back in many ways, whether it be helping to raise awareness for childhood cancer, many other disabilities and life threatening illnesses, bone marrow registry drives, serving at the local soup kitchen, collecting items for the homeless, bucket lists for terminally ill children and/or adults; events at the women's shelter, giving our time to the Veterans at different local facilities, and so much more. We are always looking for ways to make a difference.
With that being said, there are so many people out there not doing anything. The top 2 reasons shared with me from people as to why they don’t do more are, 1) because they don’t have the time and 2) they don’t know where to start. My goal is to inspire you to want to make the time to do more, to do better, to be better.
Giving back isn’t always about money, it’s about sharing what YOU have to offer. This could be your time, talents, services, knowledge, your love, a listening ear, your heart.
Ultimately, The J.R. Way was created to encourage people to come together, to be the change, to be the light, to make a difference, to collaborate with other non-profits, foundations, charities and/or individuals to raise awareness for the cause at hand, to judge less, to love more, to spread good vibes, and remind everyone...it’s cool to be kind.
For me personally; Philanthropy, it is just a way of life. I like to think some people are just born this way; to give and serve others. I have been this way my entire life. I am continually inspired by all the amazing humans I meet along the way that help guide me through this crazy thing called life. And these kids fighting tough battles, well, they are some of the strongest people I know. They keep me strong and driven, not only for myself, but they push me to be the best I can be and to remain strong.
I strive to be the best role model I can be and give my everything to everyone that crosses my path. I know I can't single handedly change the whole world, but it's a start. If I inspire one person to step outside the box and get out there and do something, or inspire one person to never give up and remind them that nobody fights alone, or make sure that someones day was made a little bit easier or brighter, I feel as if I am succeeding at life. These people that cross my path; they are what my heart beats for, they are my passion, they are my purpose.
